Safety guidelines
Health, chemical safety & emergency contacts.
Every CleanSa crew member works to these standards. If you ever feel unsafe, stop the job and call for help — no client relationship outranks your safety.

On an active shift, use the red Panic Button on your job card — it sends live GPS coordinates and the job payload to dispatch automatically.
Chemical safety
- Never mix bleach with ammonia or acids — toxic chlorine gas forms instantly.
- Decant only into labelled containers; keep the original label visible.
- Store chemicals upright, below eye level, away from food and heat.
- Wear nitrile gloves and eye protection when diluting concentrates.
- Flush skin or eyes with clean water for 15 minutes, then call the Poisons Centre.
Personal protective equipment
- Gloves, closed non-slip shoes and an apron are the minimum on every job.
- Full PPE set (respirator, goggles, coveralls) is required for biohazard and hazmat work.
- Check equipment before each shift — log faults instead of using damaged tools.
- Masks must be sealed; replace filters per the manufacturer interval.
Slips, trips and falls
- Place wet-floor signage before mopping and remove it only when the surface is dry.
- Keep hoses and cords routed away from walkways; never leave water unattended.
- Use a ladder rated for your weight — never a chair or bucket.
- High-rise window work requires a certified harness and a second person present.
Electrical and water
- Never work on wet surfaces near live sockets or distribution boards.
- Switch off and unplug before cleaning appliances or machinery.
- Report exposed wiring, sparking or burning smells to the client immediately.
- Do not use water on electrical fires — use a CO₂ extinguisher only.
Load shedding & backup power
- Flag the property power source (solar/inverter, generator, or none) when booking.
- Sites without backup power are auto-matched with battery-powered equipment.
- Never run a generator indoors or in a garage — carbon monoxide is fatal.
- Confirm torch and phone battery before a scheduled outage window.
Working alone
- Share your live location with CleanSa when you accept a shift.
- The in-app Panic Button sends your GPS coordinates and job details to armed response in one tap.
- Report any unsafe or hostile situation — you may leave a site immediately.
- Keep your emergency contact current in your profile.
